Albany County commissioners approved acceptance of an FAA grant to fund the second half of the expansion of the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) building at Laramie Regional Airport and authorized the chair to sign the grant documents.
A county presenter (county staff) explained the FAA grant covers construction; the planning phase was funded previously. The presenter said the grant requires a match that is already budgeted and that the county is not requesting additional funds for the match. He provided the grant identifier given in the packet: "FAAIP grant 3-56-0017-052-2025" and stated the amount: "not to exceed $1,573,058." He said the airport chair, Malia Brown, would sign on behalf of the airport after the county chair signs and the FAA sends the email signature packet.
Commissioner Pete moved to approve acceptance of the FAA grant, to direct the chairperson to sign for Albany County and to authorize the Laramie Regional Airport chair to sign on behalf of the airport contingent on city concurrence. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The presenter told commissioners to watch their email for FAA signature instructions; staff will coordinate timing and execution with airport leadership.
