Council approves H.H. Heinder Brewing’s outdoor service area for Heine Fest on Sept. 6

The Apaca Common Council voted unanimously on June 3 to approve H.H. Heinder Brewing Company’s request to expand its outdoor service area for the Heine Fest event on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The brewery’s representative, identified in the meeting as Mike (H.H. Heinder Brewing Company), told the council the event area would be the building footprint, the beer garden and the front parking lot; the brewery plans bands, food trucks, vintage‑truck displays and other festival activities. “It just makes it more festive,” the applicant said, describing pedestrian flow between buildings and a fenced area in the front lot.
Council members moved and seconded the approval; the clerk conducted a roll call in which nine council members voted aye. The roll call recorded Henry Velacher, Paul Mayo, Dave Peterson, Colin Dykstra, Dimitri (Dmitri) Martin, Corey Nagel, Paul Hagen, Eric Olsen and one other council member as voting aye; the mayor attended remotely and did not chair the meeting.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the license beyond the standard permitting process; the applicant said promotional materials and lawn signs are available for distribution to local businesses. The council wished the applicant well and confirmed the event date.
The action recorded on the agenda is a permit to expand an existing outdoor service area for a special event; the council’s motion passed by roll call, 9‑0.
