Aransas County commissioners approved an interlocal agreement authorizing continued public safety answering point (PSAP) equipment and services for the county’s dispatch center.
Jennifer Bostick of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments (COG) participated in the discussion and answered procedural questions. County staff explained the agreement was a renewal of the county’s existing arrangement to host 9‑1‑1 equipment and to retain service and maintenance for dispatch technology.
Commissioners asked who would be designated as the county’s PSAP supervisor under the agreement; staff indicated the designation would be the dispatch manager, although commissioners noted the person named does not work for the county (the named person is employed by a city) and asked whether a non-county employee can fill the role. A COG representative said naming a PSAP supervisor does not require the designee to be a county employee; the chief requirement is that the person be identified.
Staff also noted the agreement included an incorrect county mailing address and asked that be corrected before signature. The motion to authorize the county judge to sign the interlocal agreement passed unanimously.
