At a workshop on Aug. 5 the Martin County School Board discussed whether the district should join a coordinated social-media "harm" litigation effort.

The districtlegal representative (referred to in the packet as "Mr. George") had prepared a questions-and-answers packet for the board. Board members reviewed the packet and asked clarifying questions about what joining would entail.

Several board members voiced support for participating. In response to timeline concerns, the board chair asked the clerk to place the item on the August regular meeting agenda so the board could vote before a September deadline that board members said applies to joining the effort.

No formal vote was taken at the workshop; the boardinstead directed staff to bring the item forward to a regular meeting for a vote.
