EMA trailer used at hot-dog festival; commissioners greenlight door work to give coroner dedicated space

The county’s interim Emergency Management Agency director described recent use of a trailer purchased during the COVID response for staging and support at a community hot-dog festival. "We had it on the ramp out here for the hot dog festival as kind of a staging area," the EMA director said, noting EMS and police used the trailer and staff want multiple people trained on setup and operation. The EMA director also raised a proposal to reconfigure the east/west end bays of the EMA building to give the coroner a dedicated bay adjacent to the morgue. "It would take probably just a doorway," the director said when describing the work. Commissioners told staff to obtain a couple of quotes for the construction, then return with cost estimates. A commissioner suggested adding or replacing doors to make the area functional for both EMA and the coroner. Separately, the dispatch manager completed a Center Manager Certification Program class, and EMA staff reported outreach and coordination for National Night Out events that evening. Commissioners gave staff approval to seek quotes and return with a recommendation; no contract or construction work was authorized at the meeting.
