County health department funds Purdue extension classes with $4,620 service agreement

Melissa Osler, speaking for the Clinton County Health Department, presented a service agreement with Purdue University to fund extension-led nutrition and wellness classes. “It is a $4,620 payment to Purdue, which therefore funds Purdue extension office for the provision of, multiple education classes coming up on nutrition,” Osler said. Osler listed classes including Matter of Balance, Be Heart Smart, and Dining with Diabetes, and said some sessions (she noted “food as medicine” or “food as wellness”) begin the following day. She said the classes are free to the public and currently sponsored at the public library. A commissioner asked for authority to sign; the board moved to approve and seconded the motion. The motion passed 3-0. Osler also said health department staff are coordinating emergency preparedness work with the county’s emergency management and testing grant opportunities that may be available in September.
