A committee member moved to amend HB 42 with “amendment 130 six-one 141,” and the motion was adopted. Committee staff said the amendment was circulated to members’ offices the day before the hearing. The sponsor explained the amendment “changes the requirement for law enforcement agencies to collect and maintain citizenship and immigration status for people who have been detained to people arrested.”
After the motion, the chair called for objections and, receiving none, declared the amendment part of the bill and closed the bill’s second hearing. No proponent or opponent witnesses testified in person during that hearing. The committee recorded the procedural action but did not take additional votes on the bill during the session.
