Bank First honored with Sandite Spirit Award after donating Special Olympics softball equipment

Bank First was recognized with a Sandite Spirit Award at the Sand Springs Public Schools board meeting on Aug. 4 after donating funds to buy new equipment for the district’s Special Olympics unified softball teams.
Miss Schleyhuber nominated Bank First. The nomination, read at the meeting, described how John Holson, president of Bank First, stopped by a practice, thanked staff and asked whether the program needed anything. When told that new softball equipment was a pressing need, Holson invited the team to submit a proposal and the bank agreed to fund the purchase in full.
“We are deeply grateful for this support,” the nomination read. District staff said the donation will directly improve experiences and opportunities for the athletes.
Board members and staff presented the award publicly and invited representatives from Bank First onstage to accept the recognition. The presentation noted the bank’s responsiveness to a community need and the positive impact of the gift on the unified teams.
No financial amount was disclosed during the meeting announcement.
