City announces move to new municipal building; current location hosts final council meeting

City officials told the Brandy Heights City Council on July 14 that staff will move into a new municipal facility in late August and that council intends to target a mid-November dedication date.
Director of Administration reported that the finance department will relocate “shortly” and the administrative team plans to move during the week of Aug. 25. A staffed presence will be maintained at the current city hall for several weeks after the move while police schedules are finalized, the director said.
Council members were informed that council and planning commission meetings will take place at the new facility going forward and that this July 14 session was the last meeting at the present location. “With that, this will be the last meeting in this location,” the director said.
The city has contracted with the videography team that records school district meetings to record council sessions at the new site; recordings will be posted on the city website later in the week after each meeting. Officials described the vendor as familiar with the location and technology.
Officials also briefed council on remaining closeout work at the First Avenue project and said restoration work is underway and that the project should be closed out shortly once the final items are completed.
Council members and staff reflected briefly on the outgoing building: the council president noted the center’s history as a senior center opened in 1982 and thanked staff and volunteers for its long service to the community.
