Parole revoked for Damon Judy after out-of-state travel and new criminal charges

The Louisiana Committee on Parole voted to revoke the parole of Damon Judy (DLC #520645) during an Aug. 5, 2025 hearing conducted remotely from Baton Rouge and Saint Tammany Parish. The board found Judy violated supervision by leaving the state without written permission and being arrested on Feb. 5, 2025; he was also charged with possession with intent and had not provided documentation of required AA attendance.
Why it matters: Judy is a repeat felony offender whose arrest and resulting charges led the panel to conclude that returning him to supervised release posed too great a risk at this time.
At the hearing, Judy acknowledged three alleged violations after examiners read the charges. The board cited Rule 3—failure to obtain written permission before leaving Louisiana—and Rule 4—engaging in criminal activity—based on an arrest on Feb. 5, 2025. Judy pleaded guilty to the travel violation but entered a not-guilty plea to the open distribution charge; he told the panel he had attended AA twice weekly and provided meeting documentation prior to an automobile accident that destroyed some records.
Parole supervisor Gina Weems told the panel the district agent (Agent Jared Holcomb, on military leave) considered the travel violation and the arrest sufficient to seek revocation; Weems added that the office had not received proof of AA attendance. Board members, led by Steve Prater and hearing examiner Jerry LeDoux, concluded Judy’s history and the pending felony charge justified returning him to custody.
The panel voted to revoke parole for violations of conditions 3 and 4; the action was taken at 9:17 a.m. on Aug. 5, and the board directed that Judy be returned to custody pending disposition of the new criminal charges.
The revocation note records unpaid supervision fees of $315; Judy indicated those arrears dated from his most recent incarceration and said he could clear them if released. The panel, however, focused on the new arrest and the absence of documented compliance with treatment conditions when ordering revocation.
