Committee forwards special‑use permit for used and classic car sales at former Cycle M site

The Planning and Economic Development Committee on Aug. 4 voted to forward a special‑use permit allowing used and classic car sales at a property formerly used as Cycle M to the Village Board with a positive recommendation.

Staff member said, "This site was formally Cycle M, so it has been used as an open sales lot for vehicle sales previously, and this applicant wishes to lease the lot to sell used and classic cars from the property once again." The staff report noted there is "not much room to display cars for sale in front of this building. The building's pretty close to the roadway, but he would also be leasing the property adjacent to the south, and we would allow customer parking to be on that adjacent lot if the special use is approved." Staff recommended approval of the special‑use permit with conditions; the Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval with those conditions as well.

The property owner attended the meeting; the applicant was not present, the staff report said. Committee members did not pose substantive questions on the record. The item passed by voice vote and will be considered by the Village Board at its Aug. 18 meeting with a positive recommendation.
