The Geneva City Council approved Resolution 2025-90 to rescind an earlier authorization and execute an amended contract with Tracy & Ed Construction Inc. for replacement of trench drains at the Public Works facility at 1800 South Street, increasing the contract ceiling to $298,475.50.
City Administrator Stephanie Dawkins told the council the project was initially authorized at an amount not to exceed $240,000 after bid award. Subsequent review determined that additional trench drain replacements were required to fully address the problems, producing an additional need of $58,475.50. Dawkins said delaying the additional work would likely increase future costs and prolong the project. The project is to be funded partly by a state grant and the remainder split among the general, water/wastewater and electric funds, using available fund balance or savings from other projects.
Facilities Manager Pete Adams was available for technical questions. A motion by Alderman Bowering, seconded by Alderman Paschke, passed by roll call (10–0, 0 absent). The resolution rescinds the prior authorization and directs execution of the amended contract for the full scope now estimated not to exceed $298,475.50.
