Public hearings set for Brightstock 2 wind farm and Dawson Township solar; staff expects hearings to continue

Phil, representing Building and Zoning staff, told the committee that two public hearings were scheduled for the evening: Brightstock 2, a wind farm operated by EDP Renewables east of Lexington, and a solar farm in Dawson Township. The hearings were set to begin at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. respectively, with a planned adjournment by 10 p.m. Phil said staff did not expect either case to finish during the same meeting due to anticipated public participation. "We don't expect either of these cases to be finished tonight. They'll probably have to continue because there'll probably be too many people wanting to speak to it to finish in 1 evening," Phil said. Staff asked committee members to note the schedule and attend if they wished to hear public comment. No committee action on either case was taken at the Aug. 5 Land Use and Transportation Committee meeting; the matters remain before the zoning process and will be continued at the public hearings as required by procedure.
