County buys extra radar speed signs, awards asphalt rejuvenation contract

Highway staff also presented a single compliant quote to apply a rejuvenating asphalt treatment on Highland Drive, Westlake Drive and Richwood Road. The board approved the low quote for approximately $93,840 for the reclamative asphalt material after staff said the price aligned with expected per‑square‑yard estimates and would not require re‑striping.
Commissioners discussed the tools’ effectiveness as a complement to enforcement and agreed to monitor data from the signs, which can be left in the same location for a longer period to assess changes in driver behavior.
The purchases will be paid from highway capital outlay and maintenance budgets; staff said funds were available in department budgets for both items.
