Council approves MoDOT supplemental agreement, extends US-65/30th Street intersection project timeline

The Sedalia City Council approved July 21 a supplemental agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation for planning, design and construction at the US 65/West 30 Second Street intersection, extending the funding term through June 30, 2026. The extension matters because it allows the city to proceed to the next phase of work without changing the projectfunding levels, and staff said the supplemental replaces a prior interchange scope with intersection improvements to better match engineering needs. Public Works Chairwoman Franklin told the council the city entered an agreement with MoDOT on March 20, 2025 for improvements on the US 65 Highway B/West 30 Second Street intersection (project ST 0900), and that the supplemental agreement updates the original one-year funding term by extending it through 06/30/2026. “It also revises the scope of work by replacing interchange with intersection improvements and request reappropriate reappropriation of program funds,” Franklin said. Staff recommended acceptance and noted the supplemental did not change funding levels. The engineering contract for the project was awarded to Wilson & Co. The council held a second reading of Bill No. 2025-129, then voted to adopt the ordinance on final passage. The roll call recorded support from council members present and the motion passed. No additional funding authorization was requested at the meeting; staff framed the action as a schedule and scope update to allow continued project planning and design work under the existing program funds.
