Board approves amended 2025 polling-place resolution after city request

The Richfield School Board unanimously approved an amended resolution designating polling places for 2025 after the city requested consolidation of precincts that lie in the Edina area but are part of the Richfield school district.
Superintendent Steve Unowski said the district previously approved polling places in December, but the city requested relocating precincts that serve Edina residents to Richfield City Hall for consolidation. “Those precincts that typically are in the city of Edina but the school district of Richfield would be then at City Hall,” Unowski said.
Trustees discussed logistics and clarified the location; one board member initially misheard “Edina City Hall” and the superintendent clarified the change involved the Richfield City Hall location (6700 Portland Avenue). The board also noted the timing quirk that Edina holds no odd-year elections, which affects turnout and consolidation choices.
Motion and vote: Director Cole moved to approve the amended resolution designating polling places; Director Liss seconded. The motion passed by voice vote with all members saying “aye.”
The amendment affects only the precinct consolidations described; no other polling places were changed.
