Board approves hiring of Peter Bonfantini as equipment operator II

The human resources director presented Bonfantini’s background: he started with the town of Greenwich in January 2024, has experience in tree removal, truck operation and snow removal, holds a commercial driver’s license, 10-hour OSHA certification and is a certified arborist.
“When he said yes, I wanted to move on this as quick as we could,” the human resources director said, explaining the department’s need to refill capacity after long-tenured employees left.
The board approved the motion without recorded dissent. The vote was described in the meeting as unanimous.
The action was presented during the personnel portion of the meeting; no additional conditions or follow-up tasks were recorded during the motion.
The hire addresses an immediate staffing need in highway/highway-equipment operations, where officials said experience with tree work and heavy equipment is important to maintain town services.
