Smyrna Arts Council unveils 'Photo Crawl at the Old Smyrna Firehouse'; city issues electrical-box art RFP

The Smyrna Arts Council introduced a new exhibit titled “Photo Crawl at the Old Smyrna Firehouse,” and the council also announced a request for proposals to expand electrical-box public art across the city. Pamela Malkoff, a board member of the Smyrna Arts Council, described the exhibit: “My name is Pamela Malkoff, and I am one of the board members of the Smyrna Arts Council. And I just wanted to tell you about the show that we just put up here in City Hall and at community center. We're calling it the photo crawl at the Old Smyrna, firehouse. … The exhibit's on view from August 1, I guess it went up, through the November, November 5.” Council members thanked the Arts Council and recognized artists present at the meeting, including Robert Harrison and others cited by Malkoff. The council also noted the city has an open RFP for electrical-box artwork intended to place public art in every ward. Councilmember Oglesby said the RFP is closing soon and encouraged artists to apply. “This particular art project will ensure that public art is in every ward in the city of Smyrna. Every ward. So we're really excited about that,” Oglesby said. The exhibit is on view in City Hall and at the community center; the electrical-box RFP details are available on the city website, and the council encouraged interested artists to apply before the closing date.
