Council reallocates SPLAS fund project budgets to cover pending and approved contracts

The Smyrna City Council authorized amendments to project budgets in the SPLAS fund (noted in the agenda as 2022 SPLAS fund) to account for items omitted from adopted project budgets and to reallocate funding between projects so pending or approved contracts can be fully funded. Staff praised project accounting work and asked the council to approve reallocations and budget adjustments. "Kirsten Robinson does a great job, right, and her staff in keeping us organized," a council speaker said during the presentation. After brief acknowledgement, the council approved the reallocation and amendments by a 5-0 vote following a motion from Councilmember Lindley and a second from Councilmember Pickens. The action moves available budgeted dollars between city projects and increases funding for projects with pending or approved contracts; it does not create new project scopes but adjusts funding to match current contract needs. Staff will execute the reallocations and report consistent with budget procedures.
