The Smyrna City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the fiscal year 2026 vehicle replacement fund to add a project titled “community development vehicles” and increase that project budget by $41,000. Council members said the vehicle is intended to replace a unit needed by code enforcement officers to support field inspections and enforcement activity. The council moved the amendment by voice vote and recorded a 5-0 approval. Councilmember Heinz moved the measure; Councilmember Welch seconded the motion. The council did not attach additional conditions to the funding at the meeting. The amendment adds one replacement vehicle to the vehicle replacement fund project list and increases the project budget by $41,000. Staff said the change will allow the city to upgrade or replace a vehicle used by community development field staff so code enforcement officers can continue inspections and enforcement work in the field. There was no separate public testimony on the item. Staff will proceed with procurement consistent with the city’s purchasing policies.
