District staff told trustees that the district's Parent and Caregiver Advisory Council had representation from all nine districts and that work on PTA and PTO engagement will transition from Matthew Stanley, director of advocacy and outreach, to Daryl Williams, associate director of family and community engagement, with support from Charles Paich, director of family and community engagement. A parent co‑chair, Anna Mason, attended the meeting.
Staff said the council’s focus this year was PTAs and PTOs and that a list of PAC members would be shared with trustees. The presenter said one area for growth is “making sure that we have more multilingual presence, as a part of our parent and caregiver advisory council.”
The presentation was repeatedly interrupted by feedback and by a technical issue with translation services. A trustee noted, “We do have a technical issue with translation services,” and staff said they would have someone on standby and try to restore interpretation by the next meeting. Trustees asked staff to confirm that the interpreter could announce the status in Spanish while the technical problem was being resolved.
Staff apologized to Latino families for the interpreter outage and said they would attempt to “be back up and running by tomorrow evening's meeting.” Staff also said they would share the PAC membership list and work to increase multilingual representation on the council.
No formal actions or votes were recorded during the presentation. Trustees requested clearer multilingual outreach and confirmation that translation services will be available at future meetings.
