Superintendent Dr. Capecchi briefed the board on parent information and operational items ahead of the new school year, which the district plans to begin Monday, Aug. 11. Dr. Capecchi asked families to attend open house events Aug. 5–7 and said: "Open house is a great way to meet your child's teachers and to begin to establish those 1 on 1 relationships that are critical for a child's success." She announced a statewide student information system change: "Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, all public schools in the state of North Carolina will transition from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus as our new student information system." She asked for patience from families and staff during that conversion. On transportation she said the Edulog bus app has student bus information activated and asked parents to verify routes and contact schools with any problems. On nutrition, she noted parents can manage meal accounts, apply for free or reduced meals and check menus at linkconnect.com and asked guardians to monitor balances. Ending: Dr. Capecchi closed by pointing to the district "Back to School Hub" on the website for more details, and urged staff, teachers and families to work together for a successful return to school.
