Planning commission postpones public hearing on rezoning at 5866 Ivanhoe Road to October

The Planning Commission did not hold a public hearing on a rezoning request for 5866 Ivanhoe Road on Aug. 4 after the applicant asked to reschedule the matter to the commission's October meeting.

The item was removed from the agenda at the start of the meeting after Kim, a planning staff member, told the commission that “the applicant has requested to reschedule this possibly to the October planning commission meeting.” The staff statement said the applicant had held a neighborhood meeting July 30 at the Singleton Community Center in Orange and must resubmit the application in accordance with planning commission submittal deadlines. Staff said notice mailings would be sent to properties within 1,000 feet of the site and a new advertisement would run in the BART Express when the applicant chooses to proceed.

The commission did not take a vote on the rezoning request. Sam, the commission clerk, confirmed there were no public hearing attendees for that item at the meeting. The agenda moved on to other site- and subdivision-plan items.

Why this matters: rescheduling pauses any formal consideration and restarts the public-notice process; nearby property owners will receive new mailed notice when the applicant resubmits. No new materials or a formal public hearing record were created at the Aug. 4 meeting.
