Stormwater compliance inspector outlines permit training, inspections and outreach plans

Courtney Pruitt, the county’s stormwater compliance inspector, briefed the board on permit-related education, upcoming inspections and outreach. She said she will attend a conference in September for required professional development hours under the county’s MS4 permit and will deliver her first conference presentation there.
Pruitt said municipal facility inspections required annually will begin in October and that the county’s Bureau of Water Quality biologists have hosted several outreach events for scouts, master naturalists and Ball State University; staff and volunteers will take part in the White River cleanup on Sept. 27. She also said the county will perform illicit-discharge detection and elimination inspections and inspect all outfalls once every five years, focusing on tributaries and streamside areas once leaves fall.
Board members thanked Pruitt for the update and congratulated her on the conference presentation. Pruitt invited board members and the public to participate in outreach and cleanup events.
