Escalon council approves three labor MOUs and city salary schedule for 2025–2028

Escalon’s City Council voted Aug. 4 to approve three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) covering sworn police and two city employee bargaining units, and adopted the corresponding City of Escalon salary schedule for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.
City staff presented the full MOUs and the salary schedule in the agenda packet and said the negotiated terms were reflected in the proposed three-year compensation schedule. Council members publicly thanked the bargaining units and staff for completing negotiations within a much shorter timeframe than earlier projections; one council member contrasted an 11-day completion with a previously described one-and-a-half-year timeline.
The council motion to adopt the resolution approving the MOUs and the salary schedule passed on a voice vote with no recorded opposing votes. City staff will implement the new salary schedule for payroll and benefits administration and said they will return to the council with any required administrative reports during the budget cycle.
No further public action was taken; the MOUs themselves and the implemented salary schedule will govern base pay and related terms for the three-year contract period.
