Board monitoring deep inlet at 6701 Hickory after televising finds no outlet

County staff and Cooley inspected the drainage at 6701 Hickory after homeowner complaints and found a deep catch basin with no identifiable outlet. The county said crews and Cooley televised and cleaned nearby lines but could not find a discharge point; the inlet appears to be an open-bottom structure that drains into deep fill material or historic tile.
Staff reported that after heavy rains the yard at 6701 Hickory was covered with water and close to the house, but that the water had receded within about 18–33 hours on two inspections. County staff said that performance—rapid recession after a day—suggests the water is finding a subsurface route, possibly old farm tile or deep fill, but the televised inlet is not visibly connected to a conventional outlet.
Because the inlet has no clear outlet for a jet rod to follow, staff and Cooley will monitor every rain event and provide email updates to the board after Tom Borchers televises the two west outlets and performs follow-up work. The board asked staff to track rain events and report any change in performance before the next stormwater meeting.
No board action to construct a new outlet or to excavate a long conduit was approved; staff said such work would be expensive and might require crossing multiple driveways and private property. The county will continue monitoring and report back to the board.
