Representatives of Dothan United Soccer Club appeared before the Dothan City Commission on July 15 to present the team’s Southern Conference championship trophy and thank the city for its investment in Ripview Stadium.
Mike Schmitz, who introduced himself at the podium, opened the presentation: "Big news for Dothan United Soccer Organization. For the first time ever, we're in the playoffs. Not only are we in the playoffs, we're hosting." He and founder/president Steve Donner credited the city’s stadium investment for enabling the club to host playoff matches and to raise Dothan’s profile; Donner described the season’s accomplishments, including finishing among the top teams nationally and strong home attendance.
Club representatives provided audience‑reach numbers the organization tracked on social media and ticket sales; one presenter summarized that, in its first 17 months as a franchise, the club played 27 games and made the national Final Four out of 144 teams. The presenters thanked Leisure Services staff for supporting events at Ripview Stadium and said the playoff run helped unite the community.
The presentation was ceremonial; the commission received the trophy and no formal vote or funding action was recorded in the meeting minutes.
