City accepts donated parcels for Peggy James Park from downtown redevelopment authority

The Dothan City Commission accepted a deed from the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority (DDRA) transferring two parcels of property that are now part of Peggy James Park (Resolution No. 2025‑183).
City staff explained DDRA originally purchased the properties, removed derelict buildings, converted the site into a park and now seeks to clear the properties from its books by donating them to the city. Staff said the city already maintains the park and pays utilities, and recommended acceptance. The commission moved, seconded and approved the deed acceptance on a voice vote.
No additional maintenance obligations, funding changes or easement conditions were specified during the meeting; staff said the city is already maintaining the property and paying utilities.
