Parish President Jewel said rain and high water in the Mississippi River have slowed construction at Eastbank Bridge Park, but that crews have completed several elements in recent weeks. She said the dugouts are bricked, turf is in place, and basketball, tennis and pickleball courts have been painted.
Jewel said the next steps are installing lighting, completing drainage work and finalizing the parking lot. She asked residents to watch for a ribbon-cutting invitation in the near future and thanked the community for patience as river conditions delayed some digging on-site.
The parish did not provide a completion date or a budget update for the park during the report.
