Council renews several vendor contracts, sends two solicitations to bid

The City of Jasper City Council granted one-year renewals for multiple vendor contracts and authorized staff to solicit bids for two county services during the meeting. Jessica Cook, a city staff member, asked the council to "renew the following contracts for another year under the same terms and pricing for our demolition services contract, with Bowling Construction, pool chemicals with Anders Pool and Spa, concrete ready mix with Brothers Concrete and Supply, and dual wall polyethylene pipe with J and G Culvertz." Cook then asked permission to send bids for inmate food and for tires, tubes and services. Council members made and seconded motions to accept the renewals and to solicit bids; both actions passed by unanimous voice vote. The renewals were approved at the same pricing and terms presented by staff; the solicitations were authorized to proceed through the city's standard procurement process. Council did not discuss dollar amounts or funding sources during the motions. Staff will proceed with the bid process for inmate food and tires/tubes/services and will return recommended contract awards to the council following evaluation.
