SAINT PAUL PARK, Minn. — During reports Aug. 4, Saint Paul Park council members highlighted several upcoming community events and asked residents to volunteer.
Council member Woodbridge Hammington, speaking for Parks and Recreation, said, “First of all, tomorrow is Night to Unite and parks and recs will be there with our table. We'll be passing out some veggies from our garden.” She also described a small carnival and the state patrol helicopter expected to land for attendees to view.
Council member Conrad gave an update on Heritage Days, saying the committee is actively planning and that activities on Broadway and at Heritage Park will carry into Aug. 17; a flyer and schedule will be available through the event’s Facebook and email pages. Conrad said volunteers are still needed for gate duties, handicap lot support and other short shifts, and that an information tent will be staffed during the weekend.
Other community notes: the Masons will sell hot dogs and popcorn for donations during a movies-in-the-park event, and local businesses are hosting coincident activities; one business (Mick Mart) is running a separate event the same day from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The council used the reports section to publicize community engagement opportunities, encourage attendance at near-term events and solicit volunteers; no formal council action was associated with these announcements.
