Community groups update supervisors: outreach events and cattle‑growers thank board for wolf‑management resolution

Two members of the public used the call‑to‑the‑public period at the Aug. 4 Graham County Board of Supervisors meeting to summarize community work and comment on county policy. Joe Saint Hilaire, founder of Love Outreach Ministries, told supervisors the nonprofit has operated for two to three years and described recent activities including a backpack distribution supported by a $4,000 United Way grant and a community “fun day” at the fairgrounds that drew about 300 people. Saint Hilaire invited attendees to a public meeting scheduled the following day at 2 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and said the organization seeks volunteers and community participation. Don Lackner, president of the Cochise‑Graham Cattle Growers Association, addressed the board to thank supervisors for initiating and approving Resolution 2025‑07 regarding delisting and management transfer of the Mexican wolf. Lackner said the Mexican wolf’s introduction has negatively affected cattle producers and wildlife populations and thanked the board for supporting local cattle producers and sportsmen. No formal board actions were taken on the public‑comment items; both presenters thanked staff and attendees.
