Craig Phillips, planning director, told the board the Unity Foundation had applied for a larger pool of funding covering several county projects and that La Porte’s plan—alongside near‑downtown housing initiatives—was included on the successful list. Phillips described the agreement as “a pretty straightforward grant agreement” and said the funds will support the city’s planning work.
Board members asked about the project timeline; Phillips said the funding and related project work will span roughly two years. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the grant agreement; the motion passed with aye votes.
City staff did not identify any matching funding conditions beyond standard grant agreement terms during the meeting. Phillips offered to answer follow‑up questions about the plan and the project partners as the work proceeds.
