Mohave County supervisors approved a rezone of a 10‑acre parcel near Golden Valley on Tuesday to a Special Development Commercial zone to allow open‑lot recreational‑vehicle and boat storage.
Property owner Kip Searcy told the board his parcel is adjacent to existing industrial and commercial uses, including a gravel pit and a commercial/industrial park. He said prior staff correspondence indicated no objection to a rezoning application when the applicant first inquired, and that the Planning and Zoning Commission’s denial recommendation was based on a spot‑zoning court decision staff cited at that hearing.
Supervisor Martin, who inspected the site, moved to approve the rezone, saying the location and surrounding uses made storage an appropriate use and would avoid larger vehicles traveling through Golden Valley neighborhoods. The motion passed following a second and roll‑call affirmation by the board. Staff noted the facility is intended for vehicle storage only and not as an RV park; utilities and sanitation are not part of the project.
