Okaloosa County commissioners approved a special selection committee to evaluate and score proposals for the county's public transportation contract, which staff said will expire Dec. 31, 2025. Tyrone Parker, transit division staff, recommended members for the special selection committee, which includes transit dispatch representation, paratransit clients and partner organizations such as Emerald Coast Regional Council, Tri County Community Council, Bridgeway and the county's housing program. Parker said the county is working with a transit consultant on the RFP and will return with a recommended award later this year. Commissioner Ketchal moved approval and Commissioner Cox seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Staff said proposer selection and a recommended award will be presented to the commission toward the end of the year for confirmation and approval.
