Commissioners reported that the prospective donor, Jake Bowen, has been asked to submit an email to Community Development with the camera model, price and contact information. The commission noted that gifts of equipment must go through the town-council acceptance process.
The commission also discussed rules on surveillance. Staff said they had contacted the town for guidance and noted that audio recording is restricted without posting; commissioners recalled prior camera use at Sklar that was publicly posted to dissuade misuse. One commissioner observed that signage and making camera presence “very public” had been used effectively in the past.
No decision was made. Commissioners will review the donor's email with model and price information and will ask Community Development and the town attorney for policy guidance on acceptable camera capabilities, posting requirements, and town-council acceptance procedures.
