Board authorizes applications for certificates of temporary occupancy for modular classrooms

District administration told the board Aug. 4 that the district had not consistently submitted required documentation for temporary occupancy of modular classroom buildings and presented an architect’s review and schedule to come into compliance.
Dr. Lamping reported the district’s oldest modulars are at Indian Hill and Beach, with others at Round Lake High School, and the newest modular at Ellis Elementary School. The packet included an architect’s review that identified items marked as "no"; administration said those items have either been addressed, are in the process of being addressed, or do not apply. The documents are required by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for temporary-occupancy acknowledgment submissions.
Board members asked whether the district had a standard operating procedure and how the district would keep the submissions on department calendars; administration said the tasks would be added to a master calendar and to department calendars so the reviews recur annually. Administration also confirmed it had contacted the regional office and ISBE and said the district will be in compliance going forward.
The board approved a motion authorizing administration to apply for certificates of temporary occupancy for the listed modular buildings; the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
