Community engagement committee previews MyRide parent app; committee requests clearer communication and SOPs for rollout

At the Aug. 4 meeting the community engagement committee described a planned rollout of Traversea Transportation’s MyRide K–12 parent app and urged consistent parent communications and standard operating procedures.
Committee member Miss Klinger said the app will allow parents to view bus stops, estimated pickup and drop-off times, the bus’s location when it is near the stop, and notifications when a bus is running late. The app also supports student scan-on/scan-off reporting, language settings, and sharing student access with caregivers via email. The district will offer the app on desktop and mobile devices and plans to provide parent outreach about the features.
Committee members expressed concern that the rollout lacked consistent standard operating procedures (SOPs) and asked administration to ensure parent communications are uniform across schools. They also requested clarity about badge replacement costs for families and how the district will communicate expectations and troubleshooting steps. Committee members said staff accepted the feedback and will provide weekly updates.
No formal board action was required; the presentation was part of the committee update and the committee asked administration for follow-up communications ahead of the start of school.
