Board approves two intergovernmental agreements to fund school resource officers

The Round Lake Area Board of Education voted Aug. 4 to approve intergovernmental agreements to fund School Resource Officers (SROs) with the village of Round Lake Heights and the village of Round Lake.
Board members approved an agreement with Round Lake Heights in the amount of $61,000 after a roll-call vote (six yes; one no). The board later approved a separate agreement with the village of Round Lake for $85,000 unanimously. The board discussed tracking the district’s SRO costs annually to help with future budgeting.
Board member Missus Klingler moved to approve the Round Lake Heights agreement; Mister Jewett seconded the motion. In the roll call, Mister Francisco voted no; the other board members voted yes and the motion carried.
For the Round Lake agreement, Mister Francisco moved and Mister Jewett seconded; the motion carried on a full yes vote. Board members noted the agreements include hourly rates for SRO services and asked administration to begin regular tracking of those expenditures so the board can review historical cost data during budget planning.
The agreements were presented during the finance discussion; Mister Fink participated in the discussion of the intergovernmental agreement. Board members suggested staff meet with any interested board members to ensure the tracking format meets the board’s needs.
No amendments to the agreements were recorded in the meeting, and there was no additional formal action beyond the approvals.
