Oak Park approves resolution to accept LRIP matching funds for Capital Avenue rehabilitation

The Oak Park City Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the city's application to the Oakland County Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) and authorized City Manager Eric Tongate to sign the agreement and accept matching funds for the Capital Avenue rehabilitation project (M-786) from Coolidge Highway to Rosewood Avenue.
City Engineer Keri Grissemer told the council the project will consist of full-depth concrete replacement in failed pavement areas and that the LRIP program provides reimbursement matching funds to assist municipalities with road maintenance and capital improvements. She said the city will fund non-eligible costs such as administrative fees, permit fees, preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition and construction engineering services.
Grissemer said the city applied to use LRIP funds as part of the Capitol Avenue rehabilitation project and recommended approval. Council voted yes on the resolution after a recorded roll call.
Staff noted that the city will be responsible for non-reimbursable administrative and coordination costs and that Oakland County had already approved the city's application for the 2025 LRIP program.
