Flagler County Library credited with generating more than $700,000 via passport services

Flagler County commissioners on Wednesday recognized the Flagler County Public Library staff for their passport acceptance service, which library director Holly Albanese said the library started in February 2008. Albanese told the board the service has processed almost 20,000 passport applications and taken approximately the same number of passport photos, bringing total revenue of roughly $704,315. She said about $152,000 of the revenue has been used for library improvements — new computers, shelving, an enclosed meeting room and sidewalk repairs — and that the remaining funds are being held in reserve for a planned southern branch library. Albanese also announced the Bunnell branch began passport acceptance in November, expanding the service. The board presented certificates to staff members who provide the service.
