Staff from the Flagler County Tourism Development Office presented recent marketing work, a staffing change and destination‑development plans during the meeting.
Candy (marketing staff) showcased short videos in the office’s "Handcrafted and Homegrown" campaign highlighting local Flagler Beach businesses, saying the items were produced at county expense and made available to partners for their own use. Amy (Tourism staff) said the campaign was created to support local businesses affected by road construction and other projects and that the videos have earned positive industry attention.
Amy announced a personnel change: "Craig was presented with an opportunity to transfer to the county's Parks and Rec Department to serve in a leadership role," she said, adding that this week was Craig’s last week in the tourism office but he would assist with outstanding deliverables during transition. Amy described a proposed reorganization of tourism staff responsibilities into a group and leisure marketing manager and a destination development and community engagement manager; the destination development role will handle objectives in the strategic plan, she said. She also said the position posting was open internally for one week before any external posting.
Staff described the office’s recent participation in a county door and window decorating contest; Deborah (tourism staff) told the board how the tourism office’s themed display represented five commission districts and local experiences. The tourism office won first place in the county contest and staff joked about earning a day off for the effort.
Board members thanked staff for the marketing work and congratulated Craig on his new Parks and Rec role. Amy said the office will continue coordination on sports events and other marketing work during the staffing transition and that the new community engagement role will work closely with Flagler Beach and other municipalities to implement the strategic plan.
Staff stated that they will post the restructured job openings and proceed with interviews; no formal vote was required.
