The Flagler County Tourist Development Council voted to restore previously approved discretionary-event funds for three events after paperwork issues prevented the funds from carrying forward. Council members approved funding for the Jacksonville Amateur Golf Association championship, the Sisters Across America 2020 invitational and a kayak bass-fishing tour and TV production. The motions passed after staff said the items had been approved earlier by the Board of County Commissioners but needed to be reauthorized so the events could proceed. Craig (staff member) told the council the Jacksonville Amateur Golf Association field was increased to 96 golfers and that the funds would sponsor the championship dinner and award ceremony. A council member abstained from the golf vote, saying a local hotel reserved a room block for the event and she could not vote. The council approved the Sisters Across America funding for a two-year women-only tournament that includes a conference and a kickoff reception. For the kayak bass-fishing tour, Craig said the funding covers bid fees and production costs for multiple TV episodes; organizers will film shows on the World Fishing Network, the Sportsman Channel and Fox Sports Sun, each guaranteed to air a minimum of 15 times. All three motions were seconded and carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition aside from the stated abstention on the golf item. No dollar amounts were discussed at the meeting record provided.
