The Planning, Building & Zoning Committee on Aug. 4 approved an ordinance amending the village fee schedule to account for higher third-party elevator inspection costs that will take effect under the vendor contract in December 2025. Staff said Thompson, the village’s third-party conveyance/elevator inspection vendor, raised its fees under a previously executed three-year contract, and village staff asked Thompson to delay the increase for one year to give property owners time to plan. The committee approved a fee schedule amendment to preserve the village’s administrative margin while reflecting Thompson’s new pricing. The amendment affects fees in chapter 11 of the Hoffman Estates Municipal Code related to conveyance/elevator inspections and the village said property owners had been notified in advance.
