Greg Carroll, who grew up in Hoffman Estates and works in special education, interviewed with trustees on Aug. 4 for a seat on the Village’s Commission for People with Disabilities and was told the board will make the appointment at the next regular meeting. Carroll described extensive local ties and experience in special education, saying he has worked with “a wide range of disabilities” and views the commission as “a good opportunity for me to contribute back into the community that I live in.” Trustees asked routine background questions — including about Carroll’s work history, education and emergency contact — and several trustees, including Trustee Palafis and Trustee Kinane, welcomed him. Trustee Palafis said Carroll’s background would make him “a huge asset to the committee.” No formal appointment was made at the Aug. 4 interview. Trustees said the board will place the appointment on the next regular board meeting agenda for formal approval.
