Following a closed-session personnel deliberation at the June 9 meeting, the Leander ISD board of trustees took several formal personnel and representative actions in open session. The board voted 7-0 to accept the superintendent's recommendation to hire Lauren Meeks as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction under a one-year probationary contract for the 2025-26 school year. The district did not discuss individual contract terms in open session beyond noting alignment with district salary scales and policy. Trustees subsequently elected board leadership for the coming year. The board appointed Anna Smith as board president (motion passed 6-1), Sade Pashukun as vice president (unanimous in recorded vote), and Nikosi Nelson as secretary (unanimous in recorded vote). The board also appointed Anna Smith as district delegate and Gloria Gonzalez DeLucia as alternate to the 2025 Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Delegate Assembly (motion carried 6-1). Those actions were reflected in motions and recorded votes taken when the board returned to open session after the closed deliberations.
