Plan Commission approves AdTech Medical parking expansion at 400 West Oakview Parkway

The Oak Creek Plan Commission on July 15 approved a site and related plans allowing AdTech Medical Instruments Inc. to add 17 parking spaces at its existing facility at 400 West Oakview Parkway.

Staff said the company previously received plan approval in 2018 for up to 77 additional spaces and has since added some parking. Todd, a Community Development presenter, told commissioners the proposed 17‑space expansion would increase the site total to 125 spaces and add about 3,200 square feet of impervious surface. He said code sets a minimum parking requirement (54 spaces for the building size) and a local maximum (20 percent over the minimum, which staff calculated as 65 spaces), but the code allows additional spaces if the applicant demonstrates operational need; AdTech reported 125 employees on the first shift.

The commission’s motion approving the plan includes standard conditions: all relevant code requirements remain in effect; the approval will expire if a building permit is not issued within 12 months; the existing tree in the expansion area must be relocated to a berm on the west edge of the expansion; and landscaping islands and shade trees must be installed to meet the city’s landscaping standards. Tom Ockwood, president of AdTech Medical, and Dan Reardons, the project civil engineer from InSpec Incorporated, answered technical questions during the hearing. Commissioners asked whether 17 spaces would be sufficient; the applicant said the additional spaces are intended to serve second shift and vendors.

Commissioners voted to approve the site plan. The approval includes the landscaping and tree replacement requirements specified by staff and the 12‑month permit requirement noted above.

The plan commission’s approval is for the site and architectural plans only; any building permits and inspections required to construct the expansion must be obtained before work begins.
