Hallie, a staff member, said the Pack will host an inclusive prom for friends ages 16 and older with special needs on Saturday night from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Windsor Room; the event is free but requires registration.
Organizers said the event aims to provide an accessible prom experience with music, snacks and a quiet room for anyone who needs a break. "We're so excited to welcome our friends ages 16 and up with special needs to a prom we've created just for you," Hallie said.
"Think night to shine, but with a twist," Hallie said. "We'll have a DJ playing all of your favorite songs, some snacks, and a quiet room for anyone who may need a break. But the best part is you can wear whatever you want that makes you feel the most comfortable. That could be gowns and ties or even sneakers and jeans. Whatever it may be, we would love to have you join us."
Hallie said the event is "completely free, but you do have to register." She said about 25 people had signed up at the time of the announcement and organizers would "love to have 25 more." Hallie said she would post the registration link for people interested in attending.
No admission fee, sponsorship, funding source or contact phone number was specified in the announcement.
Organizers did not state an exact calendar date beyond "Saturday night," and did not specify whether guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or any accessibility accommodations beyond a quiet room and flexible dress guidance.
