Sycamore Services asks Morgan County for continued support as Medicaid uncertainties loom

Representatives from Sycamore Services presented to the Morgan County Council on Aug. 4 to describe programs serving older adults and people with disabilities and to request continued county support amid federal and Medicaid funding uncertainty.
LaDonna Everoad, chief operating officer of Sycamore Services, told the council the nonprofit offers day programs, residential support, respite care, behavioral management, pre‑employment and employment services, and public transportation. She said these services help beneficiaries “live, work, and contribute to their communities.”
Kate Reniger, Sycamore’s HR generalist, provided program metrics and said the organization serves hundreds of people across Morgan and surrounding counties. In the presentation, Sycamore reported its Morgan County Connect public‑transportation service “provides an average of 15 64 rides per month to 164 riders,” noting capacity limits with 14 vehicles and 12 drivers.
Everoad and Reniger said proposed federal and Medicaid changes could limit service hours and age eligibility and that promised annual Medicaid reimbursement increases have been put on hold, reducing the nonprofit’s ability to raise staff pay and retain direct support professionals. They told the council Sycamore is pursuing grants, fundraising and housing projects to diversify funding and maintain services.
Council members thanked the presenters. No formal county action was taken during the meeting; presenters asked the council for continued partnership and funding consideration going forward.
