The City Council of Riverside voted on Aug. 4 to accept two resolutions: one to accept a Community Development Block Grant and another to adopt a Safe Streets for All action plan. The council approved a resolution to accept roughly $125,000 in CDBG funding obtained through the land bank; city staff identified priority properties in the Avondale, Floral Park and Riverside Terrace neighborhoods for demolition and rehabilitation work. The council also adopted the Safe Streets for All action plan, a document required by the Federal Highway Administration for the corresponding grant. Staff said adoption fulfills the grant requirement and positions the city for future rounds of federal funding for street‑safety projects. Both resolutions passed by voice vote with no objections recorded at the Aug. 4 meeting.
